  • Moises Hernandez, Esq.

    Attorney

    Moises Hernandez has been practicing immigration law since 2002, and running his own law practice since 2007. He handles a variety of immigration matters including family-based applications for residency, citizenship, and deportation defense, including complex cases invoice lving criminal convictions.

    A native of Mexico, Moises moved to Chicago with his family at the age of 7. A bilingual Spanish-English speaker, the first immigration case he handled after graduating from law school and passing the Illinois bar was his own naturalization.

    As a new attorney Moises worked for the Midwest Immigrant & Human Rights Center (now known as the National Immigrant Justice Center/ NIJC) as a staff attorney. He started his own law practice in 2007, and he currently serves the immigrant community in the Chicago area and surrounding states.

    Moises is regularly invited to speak to religious, educational and other community-based organizations (in English or Spanish) about immigration law. He is especially interested in opportunities to educate the vulnerable immigrant communities from the prevalent practice of immigration fraud by “notaries” or other unauthorized practitioners.

    Moises serves on the board of Latinos Progresando. He also enjoys running, cooking, home improvements, and listening to jazz.

  • Ana L. Torres, Esq.

    Attorney

    Ana Torres is an associate attorney at Hernandez Law Group. Ana earned her Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from UIC John Marshall Law School in May 2019. While in law school, she served as an Editor of the John Marshall Law Review and Chief Justice of the Moot Court Honors Program. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Humanities and Social Studies from Universidad de Monterrey located in Monterrey, Nuevo León, México. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA), the Order of the Barristers, and the National Order of Scribes.

    Ana has substantial experience in immigration law. Following graduation, she secured an Equal Justice Works legal fellowship at the ACLU of Illinois, where she assisted in multiple lawsuits seeking the release of medically vulnerable immigrants held by ICE during the COVID-19 pandemic. Following her fellowship, she dove into business and family-based immigration law as an associate attorney at Wintersteen Patel Law Group, focusing on H1-B and EB-1 cases.

    During law school, Ana pursued her passion for public interest work, completing internships at Legal Aid Chicago (LAC) as a law clerk in the Immigrant and Worker's Rights Practice Group and Access Living, with the civil rights legal team representing people with disabilities and organizations in Chicago facing violations of the ADA or the FHA. She is admitted to practice law in Illinois, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Central District of Illinois.

    As an immigrant herself, Ana is passionate about serving the immigrant community. She is a native Spanish speaker.

  • Junellie Marin, Esq.

    Attorney

    Junellie Marin is an associate attorney at Hernandez Law Group, LLC. Prior to law school, Junellie graduated from DePaul University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American and Latino Studies. In 2022, she earned her law degree from UIC Law. While in law school, Junellie was a member of the UIC Review of Intellectual Property Law and served as an associate justice on the UIC Law Moot Court Executive Board. She also completed a Public Interest Law Initiative internship at the National Immigrant Justice Center with the Children’s Protection Project.

    Junellie is a first-generation attorney whose parents immigrated from Mexico. She has native fluency in Spanish. Junellie is admitted to practice law in Illinois and Indiana. She is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association.

    Gabriella a.k.a. Gab is an exceptional paralegal skilled in drafting and filing family-based immigration applications with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Department of Homeland Security (DHS), translation, editing, notary services, Spanish, Italian, French and English.

    Waleed first joined our firm in 2021 and has been a great asset since. He has helped our attorneys and clients with a variety of cases. When not at the firm Waleed volunteers as translator for French and Spanish.
