Plans to Hire Additional Border Patrol Agents and ICE Officers Create Serious Concerns

Plans for enhancing public safety and national security under the Trump administration comprise of hiring 5,000 additional Border Patrol agents and 10,000 additional Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers. Given the history of abuses and scandals after the Border Patrol’s last expansion, there are serious concerns regarding the administration’s plans to rapidly increase the number of Border Patrol and ICE personnel. If the proposed surge is executed without first introducing reforms to adequately recruit, train, and supervise new agents and officers, corruption is likely to increase among these two branches of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

Dado la historia de abusos y escándalos después de la ultima expansión de la patrulla fronteriza, existen serias preocupaciones con respecto a los planes de la administración de incrementar rápidamente el numero de personal de la patrulla fronteriza y de ICE.
